Presser Points: Zimmer Inspired by Teddy’s Personalized Jets Jersey Resolve During Rehab

October 9th, 2017

MANKATO, Minn. — Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer is a big fan of Teddy Bridgewater’s fight and attitude.

Bridgewater has been rehabbing and battling back from a devastating knee injury that he suffered 11 months ago prior to the 2016 season.

After Teddy spoke to the media for the first time since, his Zimmer took to the Personalized Jets Jersey podium and described Bridgewater’s demeanor.

“It’s hard for me to say what he inspires in other people, but he inspires me by the way goes about his business and about his work and the attitude that he carries every single day,” Zimmer said. “I think everybody appreciates the work he puts in.”

The Vikings placed Bridgewater on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list on Wednesday afternoon, and Zimmer was asked if he believed the quarterback would be able to participate in practice before the end of training camp.

“I don’t know when,” Zimmer said. “It’s all up to the doctors. When they say he’s

Zimmer and Bridgewater have always had a strong relationship since Custom Saints Jersey they both arrived in Minnesota in 2014. Zimmer was asked if he’s discussed Bridgewater’s future status with the team.

“I don’t try to tell him anything about that stuff,” Zimmer said of Bridgewater’s rehab process. “I talk to Teddy about normal-people stuff, not really football. He knows how I feel about him, and I know how he feels about this team.”

With that being said, Zimmer has taken note of Bridgewater’s rehab progress.

“He’s really done a remarkable job,” Zimmer said. “I know I never said what the prognosis was when he got hurt, but it was not good. And for him to come as far as he’s come, we knew — you never really know, but we knew it was going to be a long process, and for where he’s at right now is really remarkable.”

Here are four other topics discussed by Zimmer during Thursday’s podium session:

1. Offensive line taking shape

When the Vikings took Blakeslee Field for the first time as a full team in 2017 the focus was on who would line up with the first team on the offensive line.

From left to right was tackle Riley Reiff, guard Alex Boone, center Nick Easton, guard Joe Berger and tackle Mike Remmers.

“The number one thing we want to do is work on solid fundamentals, getting the strong foundation down and finally getting the right five guys in there so they

With the additions of Reiff and Remmers in free agency and center Pat Elflein in the draft, Zimmer spoke about his confidence in the Vikings new offensive line.

“I’m confident that they are better,” Zimmer said. “I sit in the room with them a lot. I see those guys and see the things that they are doing. But the proof has got to be in the pudding. I do know the personality of these guys, and that’s what I’m putting my belief in.”

2. Treadwell working on confidence

Vikings second-year wide receiver Laquon Treadwell had one catch in his rookie season. Heading into his second offseason program his teammates and coaches have noticed a more confident player and Joe Carter Throwback Jersey want that to continue to increase.

“You know the biggest thing with Laquon is he needs to continue to build the confidence in himself,” Zimmer said. “If he drops a ball, he’s got to forget about it, go on to the next play and make a play. With him, it’s just making plays and probably not being so hard on himself.”

3. Kick returner update

When the Vikings drafted wide receiver Rodney Adams out of South Florida, he instantly became a candidate to return kickoffs in 2017.

The Vikings lost 2016’s kickoff returner Cordarrelle Patterson when the wide receiver signed with the Oakland Raiders in the offseason.

Zimmer was asked to give an update on Adams’ progress at camp so far.

“I don’t know that he’s going to be the kick returner,” Zimmer said. “He did a good job when he was at South Florida, but we are going to continue to look at guys. We’ll continue to look at guys that come available, too. That was one part of the game last year where we were able to (score) some points and get some yards, so that’s going to be important for us.

4. Newman at corner

There’s been some speculation that the Vikings could move Terence Newman from corner to safety or nickel Joe Carter Jersey back if the team opts to start Trae Waynes opposite Xavier Rhodes at cornerback.

Newman started one game at safety because of injuries in 2015 and worked some at nickel, along with Mackensie Alexander, during the offseason program.

“Terence is a corner, and that’s where he’s going to play,” Zimmer said. “If we need him at nickel or safety, then we’ll do that, but he’s a corner.”
